Taking your child for kindergarten can be a challenging time. It is difficult to let go of your baby and take them to school. When it comes to kindergarten, many parents do not know the exact time to do it. The truth is that you can make your child kindergarten between 3 and 4 years.

Kids less than three years can start school, but they will go to a playgroup and not the actual school where they learn. Deciding whether your child is ready for kindergarten will depend on you as a parent. Here are signs that your child is ready for kindergarten:

Age

The first thing to check is age. If your child is already the past three years, then they are prepared for kindergarten. It will not be easy for them to start going to school and especially if you are attached.

They might cry a couple of days after starting school, but soon they will make friends and enjoy going to school. Most of the time, kids will go to kindergarten for two years, so starting at age three is safe. Some of the kindergartens will not even accept kids younger than three years.

They are Already In a Play Group

If your child is already in the playgroup, then they might be ready for kindergarten. Playgroups are great for your child because they teach them about interaction.

Children who are already in a playgroup know how to play with other children away from home. Kids on a playgroup also have less attachment from their parents because they spend some time away from home.

Your Child Is Independent

Before you take your child to kindergarten, make sure that they are independent. Your child needs to know how to use the washroom and also how to feed themselves.

When they go to school, they will be required to do these things with little or no help from the teacher. Always teach your child some basics like washing their hands and feeding themselves before joining the school.

It Depends on The School

When it comes to the right time for taking your child to kindergarten, sometimes it depends on the school. Some schools will not accept children below the age of three years.

Other schools will only admit kids for kindergarten after the age of four years. The school policy will also determine the school that you take your child.
