A guide to introducing the Government's food-based and nutrient-based standards for school lunches.
The Trust has produced this guide to assist everyone involved in the provision of school food. It provides information on how to meet, implement and monitor the Government’s final food-based and nutrient-based standards for school lunches. This guide includes three primary and three secondary school case studies showing the steps these schools took to meet the nutrient-based standards and the lessons learned.
Four further case studies describing how the final food-based and nutrient-based standards for school lunches were introduced and implemented in secondary schools in the East Riding of Yorkshire and Birmingham are available here.
Who received a copy of the guide?
Printed copies of the guide and relevant updates were distributed to primary schools, secondary schools and other groups (local authorities, catering providers, School Food Ambassadors, dietitians and nutritionists working with schools) prior to the introduction of the final food-based and nutrient-based standards.
