July 2011 A resource that will help your pupils to look at where food is going to waste in school and why, and to explore easy steps to reduce avoidable food waste.
School Food Waste Heroes Activity Pack has been developed from research by WRAP (Waste & Resources Action Programme) www.wrap.org.uk into the extent of food waste in schools.
The pack challenges students to become heroes by getting them to lead a group of stakeholders across the school, including caterers and lunch time supervisors, to reduce food waste in their school. The pack suggests a step-by-step approach, with a set of actions and all the supporting resources needed to help them in their task.
There are also resource materials that can be downloaded and used in conjunction with the pack including:
- Assembly presentations for both primary and secondary schools
- Table talker template to assist you in getting any key messages across
- Agenda template to give your meetings a professional look.
- Action notes template will make sure you keep on top of what needs to be done and who is responsible for completing each action.
