January 2008 The seasonal food chart highlights vegetables, salad, fruit, meat and fish. It plots their availability across the year and their peak nutritional value to cooks.
The School Food Trust has been working with partners to develop a British Seasonal Food Chart. The chart was devised with school cooks, caterers and industry partners and highlights foods commonly used in school food or foods that are in abundance.
The chart has vegetables, salad, fruit, meat and fish detailed on it. To support the School Food Trust guide to introducing the Government’s food-based and nutrient-based standards for school lunches there is a column that highlights what nutrients the products are a good source of.
