October 2008/May 2010 A survey of vending in English secondary schools to assess vending both before and after the introduction of the 2007 food-based government standards.
Prepared on behalf of the School Food Trust by the British Heart Foundation Health Promotion Research Group, the aim of the survey on vending was to assess both before and after the introduction of the new standards:
- the proportion of English secondary schools with vending machine provision;
- the number and type of vending machines in English secondary schools;
- the nutritional quality of vended products in English schools; and
- the range of food and drink vending provision within English secondary schools in relation to compliance with the new standards
This has been followed up with additional fieldwork and evaluation two and three years after the baseline data were collected, and can be found in the Research Report.
