May 2010 School Food Trust’s ninth headteachers panel survey.

The aims of the present survey were to assess:

  • Walking to school
  • Food outlets around the school
  • “Stay-on-site” and “Closed gate” policies
  • Whether school provides catering service in house
  • Meal service provided / Free school meals
  • Financial arrangements associated with the school’s catering service
  • Suitability of school’s dining space
  • Meeting food and nutrient standards
  • Cashless catering systems

Findings from the surveys represent a broad cross-section of views of headteachers regarding catering provision in their schools.
