How to find the right suppliers for your school catering service.
Finding the right suppliers for your school catering service can seem like a difficult, lengthy process. With so many companies in the market, it can be hard to work out what will give you best value for your budget.
To help you, the Government has set up an initiative called Food Delivery for Schools (FDFS)*. Its aim is to help you save time and money, and to help meet the Government’s target of saving £81bn on public sector spending by 2014/15.
FDFS has set up pre-approved contracts with suppliers of some of the most common school food ingredients, which you can join. It has also set up lists of pre-approved companies offering catering services. These are called framework agreements and it means the hard work has been done for you – you can use the lists to find companies that can best meet your needs.
